About the Centre
The Centre for Doctoral Studies (CDS), under the Directorate of Research, serves as the apex body governing all Ph.D. programs at Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth (MRV) — a Deemed to be University recognised under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, located in Hyderabad. The Ph.D. programme, launched in 2024, promotes high-quality, multidisciplinary research across the University's faculties.
As a health-sciences-led University, MRV offers doctoral research across eight faculties: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Allied & Health Sciences, Public Health, Digital Health, Engineering & Technology, and Management. The CDS coordinates, monitors, and enhances the quality of doctoral research while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration that addresses challenges at local, national, and global levels.
The CDS works in alignment with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022 and the MRV Academic Regulation for Ph.D. Programme — 2025. It operates alongside MRV's wider research ecosystem — the Centre for Research Development & Sustenance (CRDS), the Malla Reddy Research Centre (MRRC), the Malla Reddy Clinical Research Unit, the Central Instrumentation Facility, and the MR-Foundation for Research & Innovations — to provide the policy frameworks, infrastructure, and translational support necessary for world-class doctoral education.
Core Functions
Framing and updating the Ph.D. regulations in line with UGC 2022 norms and the MRV Academic Regulation 2025.
Coordinating entrance tests, interviews, and registration of scholars across the January and July batches.
Recognizing and allocating research supervisors and co-supervisors as per cadre-wise eligibility norms.
Administering the Pre-Ph.D. coursework, qualifying examinations, and RAC progress reviews.
Ensuring ethical compliance, plagiarism checks (≤10%), and adherence to research-integrity standards.
Managing synopsis, external examiner evaluation, open viva-voce, and recommendation for the award of the degree.
