How to Apply — Step by Step

Identify Research Area & Supervisor
Browse Research Areas and Supervisors. It is strongly recommended to contact a potential supervisor before applying to discuss research alignment and vacancy.
Fill & Submit Application
Download Form PhD-01 (Application for Admission) or apply through the university's online portal. Attach all required documents and pay the application fee.
Entrance Test / Exemption
Appear for the university-level Research Entrance Test (RET). Candidates holding UGC-NET/JRF, CSIR-NET/JRF, GATE, or equivalent qualifying exams are exempted from the entrance test.
Research Proposal Presentation
Shortlisted candidates present a brief research proposal (10–15 minutes) before the Doctoral Research Committee (DRC) of the respective department.
Interview & Selection
Selected candidates attend a personal interview. Final selection is based on entrance test score (if applicable), research proposal quality, and interview performance.
Offer Letter & Enrolment
Successful candidates receive an offer letter. Complete the enrolment formalities, submit original documents, and pay the first semester fee to confirm admission.
Supervisor Allocation & Coursework
The DRC formally allocates the Research Supervisor. Scholars begin the mandatory coursework in their first year as per the Ph.D. Regulations.

- Experience certificates (for part-time applicants)
- Research proposal (1–2 pages)
- Two letters of recommendation
- Passport-size photographs (4 copies)
- ID proof (Aadhaar / Passport)
